Report on UCD Undergrad Career Conference in Chemistry 2025

Students enjoyed a chock full of festivities and food from 8:30-3pm February 8th. They practiced their elevator pitch, enjoyed networking, and learned about the resources from the UCD career center.

66 students attended!

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Matte Amicucci. Received both his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry and his B.S. in Food Science and Technology from UC Davis. Matt currently serves as the Co-Founder and VP of Research and Development at one.bio.

The ACS Local Section was on hand:

  • Shawna Rickard was a panelist and reviewed resumes.
  • Andrew Wilkens helped with resumes.
  • Mariela de La Paz Carpio-Obeso provided swag.

There were five panelists from academia, industry, and government:

  • Corey Sanders from US Geological Survey
  • Javier Aztiazarain- Ph.D. candidate from UCD
  • Megan Kwong- Pharm D. Ambulatory Care Pharmacist
  • Shawna Rickard for the ACS Sacramento Local Section
  • Wan-Chih Su from Genentech

We offered 10min resume reviews. There were 21 students on the sign-up sheet!
