ACS Spring Meeting 2025 Councilors’ Report

Shawna and Mariela attended the Spring Conference. Shawna voted during the Council Meeting, attended both Priestly Medals and Open Board Meetings, District VI Councilor Caucus, and both Kavli presentations. She also dabbled into the presentations including wine for the fun of it. See attached the Council Talking Points.
Council Meeting:
  • President-Elect from 4 to 2 candidates: Christina Bodurow and Dawn Mason. In fall we will vote for the next President of ACS
  • Director-at-Large four: Anna Cavinato, Donna Friedman, Malika Jeffries EL, and Will Lynch. In fall meeting, 2 candidates
  • Changed name: Patent Committee to Intellectual Property
  • Added three International chapters: Ghana, Ecuador, and Northeast China
  • There are now 19 Councilors in N&E (Nominations and Elections)
  • New ACS membership referral program (points for membership $). Everyone said “Bring the blanket back!”
Attendees 15,332  (14,251 in-person and 1,081 online). First-timers: 5,447. International: 80 countries.
ACS is turning 150 next year!
