ACS Sacramento Honors Its Members

The ACS Sacramento Section celebrated its Annual Honors and Awards Ceremony at 4:30 on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Bicycle Hall of Fame in Davis.

Debbie Decker, a newly awarded ACS Fellow, spoke about her career in chemistry including starting out at The Explosives Technology Company in Fairfield, CA. After that, Decker did significant work at both Sacramento State and UC Davis in Environmental Health and Safety.

Marilyn Olmstead was also recognized for becoming an ACS Fellow this year. Janan Hayes received an award for her service for 40 years as a councilor for the Sacramento Section.

Other awardees included the those within our Sacramento Section who had been members for 50 or 60 years. Julius Hastings, one of the 50 Year Members of the ACS, commented, “I must say that the speaker gave an informative presentation. In addition, we enjoyed everyone’s company.”

The food, catered by “ciocolat”, was excellent. The evening came to a close with a special tour of the bicycles in the Hall of Fame.
